Dynamiters finish January on a high note, with an 11-1 win over Columbia Valley

The Dynamiters faced Columbia Valley for the 3rd time in a week, and won their 5th in a row, and their 9th in the past 10.

Game Notes

  • Nelson, the former Columbia Valley Rockie goalie, started for the Nitro's.
  • Injuries/Scratches: Campanella, Pagura, Dagostin, Wallace, Revie.
1st
The Dynamiters quickly got on the board for what was going to be a dreadful period for the Rockies. Richter scored the 1st goal. Jowsey scored 9 minutes later, and Columbia Valley switched goalies. The goalie change did not help, as the Dynamiters scored four more goals in the next 10 minutes, double what they had scored in the first 10. Goals were by Hunt, Haase, Jowsey (2nd) and Saretsky (PP). The Dynamiters led in shots, 16-9, and took an astounding 6-0 lead into the intermission. I'm sure Nelson was glad to be in a Dynamiters jersey right now. There was also 22 PIM.

2nd
The Rockies changed goalies again, returning to their starter. The Dynamiters continued their hot streak, and scored three more goals. Haase (PP), Richter, and Lane got the goals. Richter and Lane's goal were within moments of each other. It was at this point of a 9-0 lead, that the game, for me, felt deflated and depressed. So I was glad to see St. Jean pot one for the Rockies, even though the game was still terribly one-sided. The blood boiled though in this period with 36 PIM being called. The Dynamiters led in shots, 14-11.

3rd
The scoring slowed down, but the Dynamiters added two more to their total. Marchi scored his first goal back from injury, and Haase completed the hat trick. The Dynamiters led 11-1 and skated out the remainder of the period. Tempers settled as well, as there was only 4 PIM. The Dynamiters led in shots 16-5 this period.

As Brouwer pointed out, the Dynamiters went undefeated in the month of January. Making them, I'd say, one of, if not the hottest team in the KIJHL. And a great time to do it as we enter the playoff stretch.
